Two processes that influence epigenetics are methylation and microRNA (miRNA). Methylation occurs when a methyl group attaches to a gene, adding tags that can either turn it on or off. miRNAs can alter the expression of genes that synthesize proteins. With whole food nutrition, you can harness methylation and miRNAs to influence genetic expression and improve general health and wellbeing. If you haven’t yet seen it, be sure to watch Epigenetics Part 1.
